Vu Ngoc Phan in the Modern Vietnamese Writer considered him the most talented of the detective story writers of the time.

Recently, walking around the 30 - 4 square in Ho Chi Minh City, I accidentally met Ms. Thuy, a coffee seller and learned that she is the daughter of writer Pham Cao Cong. I boasted that I was Nam Dinh, a native of the writer, and she immediately said that her father was Thai Binh.

Thuy was born in 1954, after the writer's family went to the South. At first, he cooperated with Be language newspaper, then Chinh Chinh newspaper, then later, he turned to raising chickens and quails in Go Vap district. Her family also opened a photo shop on Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street, District 3, including her father, sons and daughters.
The writer has two wives. The first lady is from the "city", probably Hanoi. According to Thuy, she is very good and clever, "speaks French like the wind". She is the second daughter of the Ha Dong people. She used to sell cloth at Ha Dong market.
Both of them live in harmony, never quarreling ever. Her father is a funny person and often plays with his children in his spare time. In the textbook cited from his work, The Fingerprint on the Ceiling, she asked him:

In 1974, he went to the United States to play with his sister's family. She came to America in 1968, married an American who was an English teacher. In 1975, he was stuck unable to return, later he had to return home several times, the last time 4 years ago.
Last year, he still demanded to go home last year but everyone was busy, no one took him home. He still lives with his sister in California, playing at home every day, often with a computer. He is now cuffed and also "very doting."
